Back in 2018, I worked on a Christmas special for Magic Light Pictures at Triggerfish Animation Studios. It was a short film adaptation of the children's book Zog, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. The film features a school for fledgling dragons who are all eager to discover the secrets of how to roar, fly and breath fire! Over the years, one of the young dragons named Zog establishes a friendship with a young princess named Pearl who yearns to be more then just royalty. She dreams of becoming a doctor. When the task of capturing a princess is given at the dragon school, a mutually beneficial opportunity arises for Zog and Pearl. Zog "captures" Pearl and brings her back to the dragon school. Zog is praised for successfully capturing a princess and Pearl, freed from her royal responsibilities, is able to pursue her dreams of becoming a doctor. She fixes up a room in the highest tower of the ruined castle on the school grounds, where she establishes a general practice and sees to the various injuries that all the dragons sustain during their time at the school.
I got the chance to tackle the texturing and shading of the room in the old tower, after Pearl converted it into her practice. Unfortunately, I never stored the various render passes when I worked on it so all I have to show are the shots from the film.
